BHUBANESWAR:
Members of the Nikhila Utkal Gruharakhi Mahasangha (NUGM) would wear black
badges during duty time from February 1 to 7 demanding pay hike and appointment
of retrenched homeguards.
According to NUGM general
secretary Sanjay Behera, the State Government has to withdraw false cases
lodged against homeguards during protest dharna in front of the State Assembly
last year. He also demanded the State Government to implement the proceedings
made by Homeguard DG, Home Secretary and Chief Whip of the ruling party on
March 8 last year.
“If the State Government fails to
fulfill our demands before February 7, we will self-immolate our lives in front
of the Naveen Niwas here,” Behera said.
