Metal detector installed in city court after bombing case

BHUBANESWAR: After an oldman hurled three low intensity bombs at the court room of the CBI Special judge inside the District Sessions Court here on Monday, a metal detector was installed and security personnel were engaged at the entrance of the court on Tuesday to keep vigil on the visitors.

The police have started proper frisking at the main entry gate of the court and have asked visitors to call their lawyers or persons whom they want to meet for permission.

However, Bhubaneswar Bar Association president Santosh Kumar Choudhury expressed unhappiness over the security arrangement at the entrance gate as there were several ways to enter to the court. He demanded strict vigil on the visitors entering into the court.

Twin City Police Commissioner Dr RP Sharma said that Identity Card system may be introduced for the lawyers and their associates to make easy the process of security check-up in the court.

Meanwhile, the oldman Upendra Mohanty, who hurled bomb at CBI court, was forwarded to the court on Tuesday. To get further information about the motive of the attack on the court, the Commissionerate Police would take Mohanty on remand. The police would conduct psychoanalysis test to know the mental state of the oldman, said the police sources.
