PRI members of Kudumuluguma in M’giri resigned

MALKANGIRI: Protesting the State cabinet’s recent decision to make Chitrakonda the block headquarters of the area in the place of Kudumulugumma after reorganisation of blocks in Malkangiri District, the PRI members including a Zilla Parishad member, Sarpanchs of four panchayats along with 56 ward members under Kudumuluguma block tendered their resignation on Tuesday.

The PRI members attending a mass rally, which was organised at Hatapada of Kudumuluguma, demanded the State Government to rollback the decision of abolishing their block having all the six gram panchayats of the cut-off area. Later, the PRI members handed over a memorandum to the Collector in this regard.

The members of the Congress and the rulling Biju Janata Dal supported the resignations.
“The Government should listen the public, before taking any decision. If any untoward situation emerges in the block regarding the issue, Government will be responsible for that,” said Chitrakonda MLA Mamta Madhi.

The BJD leader Damburu Sisha said, “We will not oppose the State Government, if it wants to form Chitrakonda block, but it should not abolish the Kudumuluguma block.”
