JAGATSINGHPUR: Anti-Posco
agitation is getting support from different political and social organisations
along with their leaders day by day. After CPI
national secretary and MP D Raja joined the protest two days back,
internationally acclaimed social activist Swami Agnivesh on Friday afternoon
toured affected villages for lending support to the anti-Posco brigade.
While holding consultation with
the villagers, Swami appealed the State Government not to forcibly demolish the
betel vines and acquire the land of the farmers which would affect their
livelihood and survival. “The Government has no right to use force for
acquiring land,” Swami said, adding, “It is undemocratic, illegal and also
criminal.”
The district administration halted
the betel vine demolition drive and land acquisition work at Govindpur village on
Friday due to strong protest by the agitators and unfavorable local condition.
The administration categorically informed that the police force would not be
withdrawn from the village with immediate effect.
