ULBs to get funds for Kalyan Mandaps, high max lights



BHUBANESWAR: The State Government would provide assistance to the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) like Municipalities and Notified Area Councils (NAC) in the State for the construction of Kalyanmandap and fitting up of high max lights in the municipal areas in the State. It was decided at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here on Wednesday.

According to the decision taken in the meeting, the State Government would sanction Rs 70 lakh each for total 37 Municipalities and Rs 35 lakh each for all the 63 NACs in the State for the construction of Kalyanmandaps. It would not only generate revenue for the ULBs, but also help the common people of the area. It could be used during marriage ceremony, auspicious occasions and meetings.

Similarly, the State Government would provide 11 each high max lights for three Municipal Corporations, four each for Municipalities and two each for NACs in the State.

Patnaik directed the officials to start demarcation of land and other necessary works for the construction of the Kalyanmandap very soon. He also emphasised on regular supervision of waste management and improvement of sanitation in the ULBs.

Among others, Chief Secretary Bijay Kumar Patnaik, Development Commissioner Jugal Kishore Mohapatra, Housing and Urban Development Department Principal Secretary I Srinivas and Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary were present.
