BHUBANESWAR: The Commissionerate
Police on Saturday prevented two women Gaon Sathis while they were attempting
self immolation near Chief Minster’s residence ‘Naveen Niwas’ in the city.
After capturing two women, the
security personnel sent them to the Capital
Hospital for treatment. The
condition of the agitators was fine, sources said.
According to reports, when the women
belonging to the Gaon Sathi Joint Coordination Committee were preparing to torch
their body after pouring kerosene on it, the security personnel in front of the
Naveen Niwas rushed to the spot and prevented them to take the extreme step.
The women said that they took the
step when the State Government didn’t pay heed to their repeated demands include
regularisation of job, permanent appointment of the workers in their respective
panchayats with a monthly incentive of Rs 4,500, repeal of five-member village
coordinator panel and 200 working days to job card holders instead of 100.
