Police grills seven for firing on Minister



--Mohanty takes liquid diet, condition improving

PURI/BHUBANESWAR: The Puri district police have continued its process of interrogation in order to get clues about the firing on Law Minister Maheswar Mohanty on Friday night near his residence at Puri town. Out of the total 40 people detained by the police, 33 of them were released till Monday evening, sources said.

Reliable sources from the Puri police said that four vehicles along with some fire arms used in the crime have been seized and police were trying to ascertain the motive behind the attack. Two police teams have left for outside of Puri district to nab mastermind of the firing, said the sources.   

Police sources said that two to three people fired at him when he was returning home on his bike. They will nab the culprits very soon, said a senior police officer.

Meanwhile, condition of the Minister sustained multiple injuries in hand and waist is improving. Doctors of the Kalinga Hospital in the capital city said Mohanty has started taking liquid diet. Very soon they will take him out of the ICU, the doctor team said.
