BHUBANESWAR:
A four-member delegation of the Samajwadi Party Odisha State Committee on
Friday submitted a memorandum to Parliamentary Affairs Minister and Panchayatiraj
Minister Kalpataru Das on Lokayukta issue.
The delegation led by party’s
State unit president Rabi Behera demanded that rotation system for
SC/ST/Minority and Women in Lokayukta should be made regularised.
The Lokayukta should include a
member of the Other Backward Class (OBC) as they are major constituent of the State
population. They also demanded the Vigilance Department should come under the
Lokayukta to make it more effective to fight corruption.
The Minister assured the
delegation to take a positive step in this regard. Among others, party general
secretary Arun Jena, Pradeep Mohapatra and youth leader Biswajit Ray went with
the delegation.
