Bike lifter arrested, 20 bikes seized in city

BHUBANESWAR: The Commissionerate Police arrested a bike lifter of a six- member looter gang and seized 20 bikes from the possession of the arrested person, said the Khandagiri police here on Monday.

The bike lifter was identified as Rashmi Ranjan Mallick (22) of Kanpur under Niali police station in Cuttack district. He was forwarded to the court on Monday.

The Khandagiri police chased Mallick when he and his friend tried to run away from the police checking near Durga temple of Ghatikia area in the outskirts of the city. Mallick was caught in the hand of the police, but his friend escaped from the spot.

According to the police, Mallick was involved in many loot cases in the city. They would arrest the other five looters of the gang very soon, they added.
