BHUBANESWAR: While reviewing the Rashtriya
Madhyamik Siksha Abhijan (RMSA) in a high level meeting at the Secretariat here
on Monday, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik directed the concerned departments to
start the construction work of new high schools under the RMSA by the month of
October this year.
Under RMSA programme, steps were
taken to establish 700 new high schools in the State. Out of the total
sanctioned high schools, construction work of 304 high schools is going on
while construction works of 75 new schools have been completed. The officials
said that land demarcation for 82 new high schools is yet to be started.
Emphasising upon the RMSA
programme, Patnaik directed the departmental officials to complete land
demarcation work within a month and to finish the tender process within three
months so that the construction of the schools could be started by this
October.
Patnaik also directed the concerned
department officials to start the construction work of 47 model schools out of
the Central Government sanctioned 111 model schools for the State by the month
of October this year.
Besides, the State is preparing guidelines
and other related works to set up of ‘State Institute of Open Schooling (SIOS)’
to educate children who don’t have regular school education. To provide
education through ICT medium, the State Government handed over the
responsibility to the Odisha Knowledge Corporation Limited (OKCL).
