CMAS members on surrender spree
JEYPORE: As many as 70 members of
the Chasi Mulia Adivasi Sangh (CMAS) from two different villages dominated by
CMAS leader Nachika Linga surrendered before the Narayanpatna police on Sunday,
the police sources said. Adding the fresh number, the total members surrendered
before the police reached 123 so far within three days.
On the third day, 61 people of Uparenga
village and nine people from Nachika Linga’s village Bhaliaput in Podapadar
gram panchayat under the Narayanpatna police limits surrendered before the
police.
The CMAS chief Nachika Linga, who
is on most wanted list by the State police, also belongs to the same village
from where till today 66 CMAS members have surrendered. The surrender by the 15
CMAS supporters on Friday, 38 members on Saturday and 70 members on Sunday to
police and the latter letting them off and assuring them of due compensation as
per law encouraged all, sources said and confided that more supporters of CMAS
from nine gram panchayats were likely to follow suit in ensuing days.
Narayanpatna IIC Satyajeet Mishra
said that after intensifying combing operation in the Maoist infested
Narayapatna block, people are increasingly developing confidence with the
police and the administration. As a result, the CMAS members are surrendering
in greater number.
