BHUBANESWAR: Organisations and
individuals of different walks of life in the city jointly decided to organise
Juba Jagarana Pakshya (youth awakening quarter) from Vivekananda Jayanti to the
Republic Day. The main slogans of the campaign would be ‘vote a must’, ‘oppose
vote beggars, traders and company agents’, ‘no to alcohol’, ‘no to pollution’, ‘no
to vulgarity’, ‘fight for farmers’ cause’ and ‘slum development’. The campaign
would reach across the lanes and by-lanes of the city for 15 days from January 12
to 26.
“As Bhubaneswar
is the headquarters of the State where people of 30 districts reside, the
impact would go to each corner of the State,” said Utkal Bikash Juba Parishad
president Debiprasad Prusti. During the 15-day programme, padayatra,
discussions with locals, roadside small meetings and loudspeaker campaign would
take place. “We will try to reach all household to spread our message and for
that public cooperation is needed,” said a slum leader Swayamprabha Sahu.
Representatives of India Against
Corruption, Adarsh Odisha Foundation, Odisha Durniti Sangharsa Manch, Jaya
Kiran Trust, Ekata Parishad, Street Vendors’ Association, Small Traders Association,
Bhubaneswar Bikash Manch including Kanhu Behura, Malaya Tripathy, Jagabandhu
Sadangi, Sumitra Jena, Dhiren Swain, Pratap Sahu, Bijaya Pradhan, Ganesh Dash,
Nadiachand Kanungo and Ramesh Pradhan discussed various aspects and appealed
the citizens mainly the students and youth to join the programme.
