BHUBANESWAR:
City-based Royale Charitable Trust would honour US-based Odia scientists for
their contributions to their respective fields. This was announced by the
officials of the trust here on Wednesday.
The trust would felicitate Padma
Bhushan Prof Bhakta B Rath, Associate Director of Research in Naval Research
Laboratory (NRL), US, and Prof Jogesh Chandra Pati, Physics professor in University
of Maryland, California, with a
gold medal and cash prize of USD 5,000 each at a formal function at Soochana
Bhawan here.
Prof Rath, a native of Banki,
received a BSc degree with Physics and Mathematics from Utkal University before
moving to Michigan Technology University for higher studies. He was awarded
Padma Bhushan by former President Pratibha Patil for his longstanding
leadership in supporting and promoting research collaboration between India
and US.
Baripada-born Prof Pati has held
various important positions in US and is best known for his pioneering
contribution towards the notion of a unification of fundamental particles.
