Odisha Krushak Mahasangha, a federation of farmers’ union, has given a few suggestions
to the State Government for controlling of rape crime in the State. Bibhudendra
Pratap Das, former MLA and president of Odisha Krushak Mahasangha, suggested
the Government to direct the law enforcement agencies of the State to submit
chargesheet within 15 days after lodging of FIR.
The OKM I his 13-point suggestion
urged the State Government that rapists should be hanged in the public place
and the time limit should be fixed for judgment. They also suggested that the
victim should be examined by expert committee headed by female gynaecologist at
sub-divisional or district headquarters hospital and the witness name should be
kept secret.
The Mahasangha also suggested
that the capital punishment should be given to woman who would give false FIR
against man. License of drunken bus, taxi/auto drivers and conductors should be
cancelled if found guilty, it stated.
