CESU emphasises on loss reduction, customer service


BHUBANESWAR: Central Electricity Supply Utility (CESU) on Wednesday here conducted a review meeting on loss reduction and effective service to the customers of the company in the State. In the meeting, CESU chairman BC Jena, CEO Sudarsan Nayak and COO Utpal Sinha reviewed the work of field engineers also.

The field divisional heads have been given instruction to do the tree trimming and complete the work by this month to reduce technical loss of the organisation. When one branch touches the electric wire, there is daily loss of one unit in that particular point, the officials said. CEO advised the field officers to check power theft as 1 per cent reduction of such loss is tune of cash saving of Rs 2 to 3 crore in CESU. Now CESU is facing 43 per cent of Aggregate Technical Commercial (ATC) loss, he added.

The CEO directed the field engineers to complete underground cabling work at Puri and Konark within stipulated time. Consumers’ grievances day will be observed on every 7th of each month at all the 20 electrical divisions under CESU to address consumers’ problem. He requested the divisional head to be present on that day for the shake of customers.

He further advised the field officers for proper load balancing to reduce burning of transformers and make correction of unsafe locations to avoid electrical accidents. CESU is providing electricity services to about 15 lakh customers in nine districts of the central part of the State having average demand of 900 to 1000 MW.
