Flood in Bansadhara River haunts Gajapati villages

PARLAKHEMUNDI: The Bansadhara River crossed the warning level in Kasinagar under Gajapati district on Saturday. Water levels of the rivers are likely to cross the danger mark as rain continue in catchment areas as a result the Parlakhemundi-Kasinagar road was disrupted due to high flow of flooded water on the road.

The warning-level at Kasinagar was set at 50.60 meter, but the water is flowing at 53.63 meter which created panic in the lower areas of the riverside. On the other hand, all the 22 sluice gates of Gotta Barrage on the lower Bansadhara at Hirmandal in Andhra Pradesh were opened to release the excess water at the rate of 20,900 cusec per second, official sources said.

The district top officials have taken the stock of the situation. The district administration is taking all the steps to tackle the situation though the people were not affected in the flood.
