BHUBANESWAR:
The Commissionerate Police on Friday forwarded 34 accused to court in
connection with the mob violence case, said Police Commissioner Sunil Roy. The
police have started investigation into the mob violence case. The police are
also searching for the culprits who were involved in the September 6 violence
case. More than hundred congress supporters are under treatment in various
private hospitals and in the Capital Hospital
in the city.
The lady cop Pramila Padhy, who
was attacked by the Congress workers during the clash between the cop and
agitators at the Lower PMG on September 6, is under
treatment in a private hospital. The members of Odisha State Commission for
Women (SCW) have met the attacked lady cop and condemned the incident.
A team led by State BJD women
wing president Pramila Malick met State Human Rights Commission and the SCW to
take appropriate steps in connection with the lady cop attack case. The Human
Rights Commission directed the Bhubaneswar DCP Nitinjeet Singh to submit report
on the case within two weeks, while SCW chairperson Jyoti Panigrahy met Padhy
and inquired about her health condition. The SCW would submit its report to the
Government in the case, sources said.
“I inquired about the incident
from the lady cop after meeting her in the hospital. I would direct to the
police officials to take stringent action against the culprits who directly or
indirectly involved in the attack,” said Panigrahy.
Protesting the attack on the lady
cop by the Congress workers on September 6, the State BJD women wing would
stage a peaceful agitation at the Lower PMG here on
Saturday. The condition of the injured lady cop is stable. The police are
investigating into the matter.
