BHUBANESWAR:
The National Commission for Women (NCW) would come to Odisha in this week to
investigate into the lady cop attack case. An inquiry team led by the NCW
member Dr Charu Wali Khanna would visit here to meet lady constable Pramila
Padhy who was attacked by the Congress workers on September 6 during the
massive rally organised by the Pradesh Congress Committee. The team would also
discuss with the State Government and police administration in the matter.
Delhi-based organisation Yuva
Odisha on Monday staged demonstration in front of the NCW office at New
Delhi demanding action against the culprits for
assaulting the lady cop and to visit Bhubaneswar
for inquiry into the matter. The members of the organisation also demanded to
impose restriction on the visit of Congress leader Jagdish Tytler who was the
mastermind of the September 6 violence.
Accepting the memorandum of the
organisation, NCW member Khanna agreed to visit the State and to investigate
into the matter. After meeting with the injured lady cop and discussing with
the top police officials and State Government, the commission would submit the
report within ten days. “It is an inhuman and condemnable incident. It is an
insult for the whole women society. Stringent action would be taken against the
culprits after an impartial investigation into the matter,” said Khanna.
Yuva Odisha president Tejeswar
Parida said that Jagdish Tytler should be booked under law for his provocative
speech during the rally and stringent action should be taken against the State
Congress leaders who were present over there.
On the other hand, the Bhubaneswar
DCP Nitinjeet Singh said that five persons were identified in connection with
the lady cop attack case. Police has issued the pictures of suspected persons
involved in the lady cop attack case.
