CCTV installed in city

BHUBANESWAR: Two CCTV cameras were installed in two different traffic posts in the city on Tuesday in an experiment basis. If the experiment gets success, other crowded traffic posts would be covered by the close circuit cameras, police sources said.

On an experimental basis, two CCTV cameras were installed at Mahatma Gandhi road and AG square to keep strict vigil on the violators of the traffic rule and to keep eye on the law breakers. The first CCTV camera at MG road would keep on the activities of the agitators and protestors in front of the State Assembly.

Another camera was installed at the AG square, one of the important and crowded traffic posts in the city to keep vigilant eye on the looters and law breakers who try to escape after committing crime in the city. The camera is a fixed camera and it can take snaps from the range of 150 metres.

The camera would record everything and can take snaps of the peoples passing through the respective area. The camera can rotate in 360 degree angle and can take snaps from the range of 300 metre. It would function round the clock. It is connected to the control room inside the Assembly premises for experiment.

The two cameras were installed by the Saijyoti technology. If it works well, other crowded places would be equipped with the cameras, sources said.
