BHUBANESWAR: Demanding a strong Lokayukta in the State, the supporters and workers of Yuva Utkal Bharat, youth wing of Utkal Bharat party, staged a rally in front of the State Assembly here on Friday. Forty party persons were arrested by the police while demonstrating at the Lower PMG.
The party members said the State
Government had promised last September to set up a strong Lokayukta in the
State, but it could not see the light of the day though one year already
passed. If the strong Lokyukta would have been functioning in the State, coal
scam, dal scam and other scams along with the bureaucrats’ corruption could have
been checked, the members added.
Among others, Yuva Utkal Bharat
president Abhishek Joshi, general secretary Debabrata Tripathy, Vice-president
Sanatan Dalbehera, Secretary Biswaranjan Sahu, Biswambar Mahapatra, Girija
Prasanna Das and Rabi Narayan Rath took the lead of the rally.
