BHUBANESWAR: The Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation on Friday demanded that the State Government to release their Laxmipur party workers Jaga Hikaka and his son Rabi Hikaka from Koraput jail who were arrested by the BSF jawans in false cases on September 17.
Party
State Secretary Khitish Biswal said
in a Press release that the police arrested the father-son duo by naming them
Maoists supporters which is totally false. “Our party is a national-level
democratic party and police’s behave towards our party workers is very
unfortunate. We condemn the act,” said Biswal in the release.
It may be noted that in 2009,
Jaga Hikaka, an MLA candidate of the party for Laxmipur during the last
assembly election, was arrested by the police in a false case for ransacking
liquor shops and organising peasants’ movement at Narayanpatna in Koraput
district. After spending two years within the jail, he was acquitted by the
court. Again the police arrested him and his son from Laxmipur bazaar in false
cases to hide BSF jawans alleged violent act to ransack the party office at
Burja village in Laxmipur area on September 16.
“The BSF jawans damaged our party
Laxmipur party office and also tore the party flag which is anti-democratic in
the country. When District Secretary Birendra Miniaka and Jaga Hikaka protested
the attack on the party office, the police arrested Jaga and his son by naming
them Maoist supporters,” said Biswal.
The party members demanded the
Government should direct the police department to stop the false allegations
against the innocent people and party workers who are working for the tribals
in the remote areas and to release their party workers.
