BARGARH: Demanding halt of the
train Puri Gandhidham Express at the Bargarh Road
railway station, the Bargarh District Rail Consumer Sangh (BDRCS) staged rail roko
agitation at the railway station here on Sunday.
The members said the railway
station is a business hub. The total revenue collection of the railway station
is Rs 4,26,11,781 in the year 2011-12 and this station which is at present in
‘D’ grade needs to be upgraded to ‘B’ grade, they added.
Numerous allegations have been
leveled against it but no actions have taken till date, they alleged. The
Express train is at present running between Puri to Gandhidham Via- Dhenkal
,Angul, Sambalpur, Bolangir, Titalgarh and Raipur.
But there is no stoppage of the train at Bargarh Road,
so that the BDRCS has started the agitation led by its president Pradeep Debata
to halt the train at the railway station here.
Around 500 people participated in
the rail roko. Among others, Sambit Acharya, Sureswar Satpathy, Bargarh BJP
youth wing President Nabakishore Panigrahi, Ashwini Sarangi and delegates of all
political parties of the district took part in the agitation.
