2nd Palli Sabha in Niyamgiri on July 22

RAYAGADA: After the success of first Palli Sabha at Serkapadi village in Rayagada district, the Dongrias are hopeful for positive outcome from the second Palli Sabha at Kesarpadi village in the district which would be held on Monday. The tribal villages in Niyamgiri hill are geared up for the upcoming Palli Sabhas which would decide the fate of bauxite mining by the Vedanta Company.

According to the officials of the district administration, 16 Dongria Kondh families of the village having as many as 36 voters could attend the Palli Sabha to air their views on mining at Niyamgiri hills.

Though the tribals are stick to their point that they could not spare their Niyamraja god which was reflected in the first meeting, the Vedanta Company has high hope to get response in favour of the bauxite mining in the hill.
