Ineffective governance forced Arcelor Mittal to pull out: BJP

--Odisha to witness more pull-out in future

BHUBANESWAR: The scrapping of the plan of setting up of Rs 50,000 crore steel plant in the State by the Arcelor Mittal exposed a total policy failure of the Naveen Government, alleged State BJP spokesperson Sajjan Sharma. It is a major setback for the State at a time when there is need of such investments. The news has brought humiliation to the State in the national arena, added Sharma.

Over the last seven years the company had invested considerable resources into the project. However, the Government failed to allot land and captive iron ore blocks. Lack of seriousness and callous attitude resulted delay relating to land acquisition and allocation of captive iron ore blocks to the company forced it to pull out which is unfortunate for the State, said the BJP leader.

“In future, we will witness more companies scrapping their project from the State. The Government has failed in all departments. Careless and autocratic rule of BJD have proved fatal for our economy,” said Sharma. Besides, no company would further plan to invest in the State on the pretext of the recent pull out. No company will find the State a viable place to invest, added Sharma.

The fate of Posco project of Rs 52,000 crore is already in lurch. Naveen Government is not able to meet the demand of the people, said Sharma.

He advised the Government to wake up now from its fairy tale and accept the truth of its failure in running the State. Naveen must learn the lesson of economic policy from Gujarat. The State has already suffered a lot because of the scams that are coming out like onion peels. It is an irony that the Government seems stronger only in words but not in action, Sharma added.
