BHUBANESWAR: “The next 20 year is going to be very different from the past and which is very significant for India. Within these years, you will see the GDP will touch 8-9 per cent. On the coming days, the position of India is important to the world,” said Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission of India Padma Vibhushan Montek Singh Ahluwalia while addressing in the 7th Annual Convocation of KIIT here on Friday.
Quality education is given highest importance in the next five-year plan. Quality education, which is the real challenge for the country, could not be achieved by government effort only, but the role of private partnership is very significant, he added.
In 45 years, GDP and population have been doubled but there is no significant progress has been taken place in per capita income. If it will double a huge change will occur in the country, he said adding, “In our generation, the per-capita income took 45 years to double, but it will take only nine years for doubling in your generation,” he said while addressing the youth in the convocation.
“Technology is changing very rapidly. Economic is open in your generation, you will see a huge change. Shift of economic power will take place from industrial power to developing nations. In this change Asia will be the pioneer continent, where China will get first position and India the second. In 2030, China, the USA and India will be the topmost powers in the world. If we want to stay in the race, we have to catch up with Chinese,” said Ahluwalia.
He called the youth generation to be ready to face the change in future as rapid change favours to the youth. He advised to think out-of-box. Be a position to do something which will change the nation.
Job opportunity is growing due to structural and economy changes, but don’t simply roam around for a job. Be an entrepreneur rather than be an employee and contribute back to the society after being a successful person, he advised while addressing the graduates.
He lauded the initiative taken by the founder and faculties for making the institution an ideal for the rest of the country for providing free education to 15,000 tribal students in its allied institution Kalinga Institute of Social Science, though it is a private organisation.
