BHUBANESWAR: The Commissionerate Police arrested two accused Arun Nayak and Manasi Patra on Friday in connection with the Salia Sahi rape and kidnapping case.
The police nabbed accused Arun, an Auto-rickshaw driver, from Odagaon of Nayagada district. The police investigation is on and main accused yet to be arrested. The arrested persons were being interrogated by the police in the police station.
It may be noted that on November 19, 2011 an unfortunate incident took place at Salia Sahi under Nayapali police station in the city. One young girl named Annapurana Biswal aged 19 was kidnapped from her residence by some anti-socials.
On November20, 2011, one missing case was lodged with Mahila Police Station here by her brother, Sashikanta Biswal. After a couple of days when Annapurna was traced out independent of police help, it was revealed from her statement that she was exposed to sexual assault. Later, some women organisations gheraoed Mahila police station alleging police inaction into the matter.
