Mobile blues during entrance exam

BHUBANESWAR: Taking mobile phone into the examination hall cost dear for 16 appearing medical students for PG entrance in Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) on Sunday, where the authority disqualified 18 students alleging violation of code and conducts of the examination, informed Director of Medical Education and Training Dr Prasanna Kumar Das.

Sixteen hundred students have appeared the medical entrance examination. On the day of examination, the invigilator recovered mobile from 16 students which was prohibited by the authority according to the guidelines of the examination. Along with the 16 violators other two students were also caught by the authorities for talking in the examination hall. The examination paper of all the 18 students got rejected by the authorities.

“After recovering mobiles from the students, we seized their answer papers and then we rejected their candidature for rest of the examination papers of this year. This year they could not sit in the entrance examination as they indulged themselves in malpractice. For the next year we have not decided yet about their appearance for PG entrance again,” said Dr Das.

Dr Das also said that getting a seat through unfair means is not a healthy trend; our students should get into the fields with talent and creativity.
