Police to train its personnel for people-friendly treatment: DG


BHUBANESWAR: “We have a plan to train our police personnel more people-friendly and gentle-behaving while dealing with the common people, ladies, destitute and civil society as they want good service and response from our side. In every police station, trained professional people will be appointed to deal with the common people and congenial atmosphere like toilet for ladies, drinking water facility will be facilitated in the police stations,” said Director General of Odisha Police Manmohan Praharaj on the occasion of fourth commemoration day of Police Commissionerate here on Monday.

He also said the police department needs human resource for strengthening its smooth operation in Maoist-affected areas and also in the capital as sixty IPS posts is lie vacant in the State, but the Government along with the department is looking forward to solve the problem.

While briefing the media, chief guest of the function and Director General of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) K Vijay Kumar said that in Odisha they have very good network and coordination with the Chief Minister and the Chief Secretary in State level and with the Home Minister and the Home Secretary in the Centre for maintaining peace in the region. They work as one team with the active support and coordination of local DGP and intelligence officers with the Centre. “We are always with the State to help out at the time of need as our coordination level is the highest in the country. Odisha has very good SOG command and police forces; still we are looking forward to help out the forces in Maoist-affected areas of the State,” said DG CRPF.

Police Commissioner for Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Vijay Sharma informed the media that over all they have received very good response from the improved traffic system, law and order situation and community police system in twin-city. They have also planned to fix 450 CCTV cameras in 83 places to close watch of the sensitive places for 24 hour, even they have planned to connect the CCTV cameras with the Police Control Room (PCR) in an integrated system which will give a modern look to the PCR, he added.

On the occasion, 14 police personnel were awarded and ten Special Police Officers (SPO) have been conferred on Best Honorary SPO by the Police Commissionerate. Parade was conducted by the police and a telephone directory was released by the guests on this occasion.
