BHUBANESWAR: The BJP Krushak Morcha State unit would stage dharnas in front of
the district Collectors offices on August 8 throughout the State to support its
Central Committee’s nationwide agitation demanding better policies for the
farmers to bring agriculture out of crisis.
Similarly, the Morcha’s Central
Committee will stage dharna against the alleged anti-farmer policies of the Government
at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on
August 20. It was decided by the Morcha’s national president OP Dhankar at the
end of the two-day national executive meet at Chandigarh
held on July 21 and 22 where a seven-member delegation led by Morcha’s State
president Maheswar Sahu were present.
The members of the Morcha said the
UPA Government failed to address the farmer issues. In view of the deficit
monsoon, the Centre should announce compensation and declare drought as
national calamity and demanded immediate initiatives to bring agriculture out
of crisis, they added.
