Bhubaneswar:
Odisha government on Monday signed MoUs with HLL Lifecare to improve healthcare
infrastructure at three state-run medical colleges and Acharya Harihar Regional
Cancer Institute at Cuttack.
HLL Lifecare signed four
different MoUs here in presence of senior health department officials. While
one MoU was signed between HLL Lifecare and director of the Cuttack
based Acharya Harihar Regional Cancer Institute, separate MoUs had been signed
with the principals and deans of three different medical colleges at Cuttack,
Berhampur and Burla.
The Odisha government has a
proposal to make Acharya Harihara Regional Cancer Centre in Cuttack
as a Centre of Excellence during the 12th Plan period. In view of this, the
state government will submit a draft proposal to the tune of Rs 150 crore to
the Centre very soon, sources in the health and family welfare department said.
However, keeping the rising number of cancer patients at this Centre, the state
government has decided to upgrade the existing infrastructure of the Centre
with the installation of state-of-the-art equipment for better treatment of the
patients. On this regard the state government signed a MoU with HLL Lifecare on
Monday.
Apart from infrastructure
development of the hospital, HLL Lifecare will set up two state-of-the-art
Linear Accelerators, one simulator and one spiral Citi machine at the Centre.
The company, after furnishing all arrangements will hand over the Hospital to
the concerned authorities. This apart, HLL Lifecare will also set up a MRI scan
machine at the MKCG Medical
College and Hospital in Berhampur
and VSS Medical
College and Hospital in Burla, on
PPP mode. The authorities of these two medical colleges and hospital will
provide the required space for installation of this machine at their respective
premises.
The patients will pay fewer
amounts for MRI scanning at these hospitals as compared to other private
hospitals which charge more money. If the number of scanning is more than 40
per day, HLL Lifecare will provide 12 percent of the fee charged from the
patients to the Swasthya Vikas Samiti of the concerned medical colleges and
hospital.
Besides, the company will also
open canteen, medicine outlets and hospital equipment store at the three
premiere government medical colleges and hospitals including SCB
