BHUBANESWAR: The parent of rape
and murder victim Bindhya Mahakud, a 13-year old school girl of Barbil area,
knocked the door of the State Human Rights Commission and the State Commission
for Women here on Friday with the help of members of the Samajwadi Party Odisha
State Committee and submitted a memorandum before the commissions demanding
immediate justice for their family.

Mahakuda of Barbil area in Keonjhar district, was raped and murdered on August
1 while returning from her tutorial class. Four bike-borne miscreants forcibly
kidnapped Bindhya to a nearby jungle where they raped and murdered her. Though an
FIR has been lodged with the local police and the local women community held a
Barbil Bandh, no arrest has been made. The police are dilly dallying in
arresting the accused in such an inhuman issue, alleged the party.
The party requested the
commission for immediate arrest of all the accused persons involved in this rape
and murder, termination of the job of local police officer for negligence of
duty and compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the victim’s family. The party requested
the commission to visit the spot to make an on the spot inquiry and strong
punishment to the accused.
