BHUBANESWAR:
Demanding minimum wage Rs 10,000 per month for the labourers of the State, the State
units of trade unions staged a massive rally in front of the State Assembly
here on Tuesday. Later, a delegation handed over a memorandum to the Chief
Minister after meeting Labour Minister Bijayshree Routray.
Thousands of supporters and
members of the trade unions- Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMC), INTUC, CITU, AITUC,
AICCTU, AIUTUC and Hind
Mazdoor Sabha (HMS) were participated in the rally. They all came in a
procession starting from Master Canteen to Lower
PMG flaunting placards bearing different
slogans staged a rally in front of the State Assembly criticising the State
Government’s fixing of minimum wage at Rs 125 per day in stead of setting up at
Rs 200.
The leaders said
the labourers are migrating to other States because of variation in daily wage.
The other States are giving good minimum wages than Odisha. Leaders of the
trade unions Ramkrushna Panda, Sura Jena, Bijay Jena, Balaram Sahu, Subash
Singh, Radhamohan Sarangi Panchanan Senapati, Radhakant Sethy, Narayan Jena,
Jatindra Ray, Mitrabhanu Podha and the workers of the unions took the lead of
the rally.
