BHUBANESWAR:
Khurda district committee of the All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC)
organised its 7th district conference here on Tuesday. Souribandhu Kar and Sura
Jena were re-elected as president and secretary of the district committee
respectively in the conference.
The members discussed on various
anti-people policies of the Central Government like FDI in retail, restriction
on cooking gas, diesel price hike and UPA Govt’s decision for disinvestment of
12.5 per cent in Nalco. Besides, the trade union leaders criticised the State Government
for not increasing minimum wage of the labourers and complexity during registration
of new trade unions.
In the conference, the workers
formed a 25-member team to lead various movements in the district. The members
also discussed about the union’s future course of action.
