BHUBANESWAR: Health services in the State are totally defunct within 12 years of BJD rulling, said Pradesh Congress Committee president Niranjan Patnaik while addressing the mass during his party’s Parivartan Padayatra which started from Balakati in Khurda district on Saturday.
On the fifth day of their ‘Call
for a Change’ rally, which started on October 2, Patnaik said the State Government
has failed to implement the programmes of the National Health Mission. The
State Government could not use the sanctioned funds, for which the fund returns
to the Centre, he alleged.
He said Infant Mortality Rate of
the State is the highest in the country. The State Government is totally failed
to implement the Janani Surakshya Yojana, he claimed. The common people are not
getting anti-venom injections in the Government hospitals for which reason
people are dying in the hospitals, he added.
On Sunday, the Padyatra would
start from Alishi Sashan and end at Rench. The top leaders of Congress
including Kanhucharan Lenka, Kishore Patel, Bijaylaxmi Sahu, Suresh Kumar
Routray and other congress leaders joined in the rally.
