BHUBANESWAR: Rains or thunder showers might occur at several places in the State during next 24 hours from Tuesday as a deep depression over southwest Bay of Bengal moved westwards and intensified into cyclonic storm Nilam about 1,175 km south-west off Gopalpur coast, informed the local Met Department.
According to the Met officials,
the depression lay centred at 8.30 am
on Tuesday which would move northwestwards and cross north Tamil Nadu and
adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coast between Nagapattinam and Nellore
by Wednesday afternoon or evening.
On the other hand, Special Relief
Commissioner of the State Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra said that there is no fear
from the side of the cyclonic storm ‘Nilam’ towards the State. “It will not
affect our State, so people should not worry about the storm,” said Mohapatra.
