ROURKELA: A Gram Rakhi was arrested by the police on Wednesday for raping and threatening a woman of Saplata under Gurundia police station in Sundergarh district. He was identified as Santosh Munda of Bhurum village under the same police station who was discharged from service from Tuesday.
According to sources, on October
7, the Gram Rakhi had taken one woman in a motorcycle with a plea to release
her husband detained in the police station for an enquiry. On the way near
Latajhar, accused Munda forcibly committed sexual assault on her and threatened
her to kill if she would disclose the matter before any body.
But subsequently, on arrival of
her husband, she disclosed the matter and next day both husband and wife had been
to the house of the Gram Rakhi to ask about the matter. Munda did not admit his
guilt and threatened them for dire consequence and assaulted the husband of the
victim. The police registered a case against Munda after getting complaint from
