Lok Nayak remembered on 110th birth anniversary

BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha State Committee of Samajwadi Party observed the 110th birth anniversary of Lok Nayak Jay Prakash Narayan here on Thursday. The members of the party paid floral tribute to the great patriot at Master canteen square here.

Party’s State president Rabi Behera said the people of our country are passing through a difficult situation like that of 1974. Corruption, crminalisation, black money, price hike, unemployment and plight of farmers have stifled our democracy which is now thrown to market forces for loot, he said, adding, “FDI in retail would bring disaster to the poor and farmers which should be fought tooth and nail on the ideals Lok Nayak.”

A memorial meeting was also organised by the party to pay respect to Baji Rout on his 74th death anniversary here at their party office. Behera wrote a letter to the Chief Minister urging upon him to install a statue of Baji Rout in the capital city which would inspire our future generation. Among others, party leaders Sudarshan Pradhan, Surendra Bhanj, Bijoy Behera, Debasis Mishra were present.
