Two arrested in Rangamatia murder case

BHUBANESWAR: Two persons were arrested in connection with the Rangamatia murder case on Friday. The two were the members of the group that murdered Ranjan Behera in Rangamatia village on the outskirts of the city on September 28, the police sources said.

The two were identified as Bikal Behera and Dipuna Barik of Rangamatia village. The Commissionerate Police arrested Bikal at Sambalpur, while Deepak was arrested from the capital city, the police said.

The villagers had planned to gherao the DCP office demanding immediate arrest of the culprits in the murder case, but the DCP on Thursday visited the village before the gherao plan is implemented. He assured the villagers and repeatedly said he would arrest the culprits within the stipulated time.

It may be noted that Ranjan Behera of Rangamatia village was brutally attacked by some unidentified miscreants on September 28. Injured Behera was rushed to a private hospital in the city where he succumbed to grievous injuries.
