Naveen’s Mayurbhanj visit: Oppositions stage protest demo



BARIPADA: Members of Congress, Bajarang Dal and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) staged protest demonstration during the visit of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to lay foundation stones and to inaugurate various welfare projects in the tribal dominated Mayurbhanj district on Monday. 

The JMM workers led by its district president BC Hansda staged black flag demonstrations at different places of the town. Some of the party members were arrested near Banthia Jagannath temple during protest demonstrations. The members also protested the Chief Minister while inaugurating the new tehsil office building and police station at Jamda block. Similarly, the Congress and Bajrang Sena activists also organised separate rallies protesting the visit of Patnaik to the district.

About 200 activists were arrested here and sixty were arrested at Jamda in connection with the protest demonstrations. Patnaik attended six different programmes on the day and addressed a public meeting to make aware about the welfare projects initiated by his Government.

He laid the foundation stone of a bridge over the river Budhabalanga and also laid the foundation stone of an 100 bedded ‘Maternity and child health care complex’ in the campus of the district headquarter Government hospital here and inaugurated a Sabai-grass based craft training centre in the town.
