Maoists kill Gram Rakhi in Koraput



JEYPORE: Maoists killed a Gram Rakhi in Koraput district on Wednesday night suspecting him as police informer. He was identified as Bhagwan Nayak of Girliput village under Baipariguda block in the district. The police recovered the missing body of the village guard on Thursday.

Around 25 Maoists with 50 supporters came in a group and knocked the door of Nayak at around 9.30 pm on Wednesday. Nayak opened the door and talked with the Maoists. After few minutes, they gunned down him and fled from the spot.

According to sources, the Maoists had caught Nayak and another person of his village Subash Durgi suspecting them police informers one and a half months ago. After the decision of Praja Court, they had released Nayak and Durgi advising not to inform the police about their activities, the sources stated.
