Violence, political interference in College poll opposed

BHUBANESWAR: The political outfit Utkal Bharat’s youth wing on Thursday appealed the college and university authorities to strictly follow the guidelines of Lyngdoh Commission and the Supreme Court’s order against political parties’ interference in the college union poll.

The president of the youth wing Abhishek Joshi said the political parties like Congress, BJD and BJP are openly supporting the candidates of the universities and colleges for the October 19 College Students’ Union election. After wining of the candidates, the politically parties take credit of the win which completely violates the Supreme Court’s order on the Lyngdoh Commission’s recommendations in 2006, he added.

The members of the youth wing said that due to interference of the political parties, violence is taking place in the colleges. The violence and political entity spoils the career of the students, they added.
