‘Beating the Retreat’ ceremony held


BHUBANESWAR: With the fan fare and march of brass band and pipe band, ‘Beating the Retreat’ ceremony was started at the Parade Ground of OSAP 7th battalion here on Tuesday. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik was attended as the chief guest of the function.

The hoisted flag on the Republic Day was retreated at sunset of Tuesday evening according to the tradition. The ceremony started with fan fare and ended with marvelous fireworks and massal tattoo display at the parade ground. Following the up and down march of brass band and pipe band with the tune of different rhythmic tunes, tattoo display and cultural show was conducted. Ghumura Nrutya, Judo and Karate, Patriotic display, Mass PT and Massal tattoo was displayed by 3rd, 7th, 8th, 2nd and 6th battalion of OSAP respectively.

Among others, Director General of Police Manmohan Praharaj, Home Secretary of the State Upendra Nath Behera, Police Commissioner Vijay Kumar Sharma and other senior police officials were present. Hundreds of people have enjoyed the fanfare, march, drum beating and cultural show displayed in the ceremony.
