We have special strategies for all States in next plan: Montek Singh Ahluwalia

BHUBANESWAR: On special category to the States Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission of India Montek Singh Ahluwalia said, “Special quota for the States are twelfth plan issues. We have received many requests from different States. I don’t think which has to respond State by State.”

Adding to the point Ahluwalia said that the Central Government has not given any consent to the special category issue. He also denied the step-mother attitude of the Centre towards Odisha. In next five-year plan, the Government has special strategies for all the States. On the future plan of the Planning Commission, he informed that they have lot of ideas in pipeline.  

On a question asked by the media persons on political unrest and its affect on economy of the country, he said we are in democracy and in a democratic system, which helps the nation. Adding the point he said, “Not only in India, in every part of the world this is happening where their Governments are getting difficulties to find a political space to make an important decision. And I’m quite sure that like other democracies, we can counter that problem.”
