Roadside vendors to demand for State policy


BHUBANESWAR: The All Odisha Roadside Vendors’ Association (AORVA) is going to observe National Vendors’ Day on Saturday in every Municipality, Municipal Corporation and NAC areas across the State. In order to remember the day of introduction of National Vendors’ policy in the Parliament, around four crores of Roadside Vendors observe January 20 as their National Vendors’ Day in India.

President of AORVA Pratap Sahu said the policy has come in effect in 10 States to support the vendors, whereas Odisha Government has made only Draft Policy and Task Force. In a Press release he said the Government should provide land through vending zone for two lakh vendors. Besides, they should be given Identity card, trade license, ground rent, sanitation, medical and life insurance, Indira Awas and JNNURM facilities for the vendors, the Association added.
