Mines Environment and Mineral Conservation Week observed


‘Minerals should be optimally used’

BHUBANESWAR: The concluding day function of the 14th Mines Environment and Mineral Conservation (MEMC) Week organised by Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM) Bhubaneswar region and host by KJS Ahluwalia Group on Sunday here to create awareness among the people about the safety of environment and conservation of minerals for the future.

Attending as the Chief Guest of the function, Controller of Mines for Central Zone of IBM Ranjan Sahai said that the sustenance of Odisha mining amidst all odds is really appreciable. Apart from the mining activities, the companies should give importance to the environment around the mines area, mineral safety and CSR activities for inclusive growth. He stressed on exploration of mining which is less in the country and also said that our minerals should be optimally used.

On this occasion, the organising committee awarded some successful miners, mining officials and organisations who have done extraordinary works for the safety of the environment and conservation of minerals in the State. A documentary film ‘14th Endeavour’ made by IBM was screened in the occasion.

Among others, Director of KJS Ahluwalia Group Prashant Ahluwalia, General Manager (Mines) AK Bhuyan, Sr Mining Geologist of Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM) Dr MK Somani and the Convener of the function and Regional Controller of Mines of IBM TK Rath, Executive and officers from Forest and Environment, Directorate of Mines, State Pollution Control board and representatives of various mines and mineral industries were present.
