BU holds 46th Foundation Day

BRAHMAPUR: With an aspiration for dissemination of quality education, the Berhampur University commemorated its 46th foundation day on Monday at the Biju Patnaik Auditorium of the varsity here. Provision of required infrastructure such as classrooms and hostel facilities along with inclusion of new subjects into the curriculum were points of the vision for the next educational year.
On this occasion, two dignitary persons including social worker Padmashree Tulasi Munda and distinguished orator Prof Rajat Kumar Kar were honoured with Anga Bastra for their contribution to education and development. Gracing the occasion Brahmapur MLA Dr RCC Patnaik and Gopalpur MLA Pradeep Panigrahi felicitated the reputed persons.
A new website named buodisha.bu.co.in was launched by the Vice Chancellor of Berhampur University Prof Jayanta Kumar Mahapatra. Presiding over the function Prof Mahapatra said, “Although the university has been facilitating teaching, research and extension for years, new subjects that can disseminate knowledge along with generate a source of income will be given importance before including it in the study curriculum from the current year.”
Students and scholars from the university and the colleges coming under it were presented with medals and certificates for their good performances in academics. Besides this, a laboratory journal The Bhanja Bihar Reporter of the Post Graduation Department of Journalism and Mass Communication was released on the occasion.
Established on the year 1967, the University has been imparting higher education in 22 teaching departments opened at various course of time which was started with one Post Graduation department of Labour and Social Welfare (later renamed as Industrial Relations and Personnel Management).
