Film Fest on art and artists in city from Jan 11


BHUBANESWAR: The JD Centre of Art (JDCA) is organising its 6th National Short and Documentary Film Festival on Art and Artist from January 11 to 13 at the IDCOL Auditorium here. The theme for this year’s festival is ‘Celebrating and Reminiscing Masters.’ There will be around 27 hours of film screening for 3 days and around 40 eminent delegates are expected to attend the festival from outside Odisha, informed eminent Odia painter and chairman of JDCA Jatin Das at a Press meet here on Monday.

According to the organisers, this year they have tried to highlight the life of great artists like of the country and their contribution towards the society in the field of art. For the very first time a poster poem, a new publication of JDCA by the nationally acclaimed Odia poet Jayanta Mahapatra will be released on the second day, they added.

Thirty films will be screened including the feature film ‘Makar Manju’ on artist Ravi Varma by Rajendran Lenin, Shahji N Karun will present his film ‘Waiting’, a new film produced by JDCA ‘Meeting Husain’ by Bidisha Roy Das will be premiered in this festival. Renowned personalities of the country including Aruna Basudev, Om Tanvi, Rajendran Lenin, Amole Palekar and Raghu Rai will be present in the film festival. 

Twenty exhibition stalls to display local traditional handicrafts, handlooms, publications and objects of art will be added attraction. The festival provides a common platform for an interface between local artists and artists from outside along with showcasing Odia arts, crafts and traditional Odia sweet and snacks.
