Passenger’s ire turns violent at Retang station


BHUBANESWAR: Protesting delay of trains by the Retang station officials in the name of giving lines to Super-fast expresses and other express trains, passengers agitated against the officials of Retang railway station here on Monday. The agitated passengers have torched some chairs and logs and ransacked some furniture in the office of the railway station. For which train services were disrupted for few hours.

According to a passenger Tanmay of nearby Khurda area, everyday the passenger trains halt here at Retang for long time. When they asked railway station officials regarding the train delay problem, some officials misbehaved them and also they were beaten up by the officials, the passenger added. Later, all passengers got united and started their violent works in the premises of the railway station, he added.

After intervention of the Railway Protection Force, Khurda Police and Commissionerate Police, the raged passengers left their agitation. While, the station officials denied to give any comment on this incident.
