2 die, 3 critical in road accidents in city


BHUBANESWAR: Two persons were killed and three were critically injured in two different road accidents on NH-5 in the capital city on Wednesday. The police have seized the dumper and bus from the spot.

One Nrusingha Charan Jena, an autorickshaw driver, was killed and three boarded passengers injured when a dumper collided with the autorickshaw from its backside at Vani Vihar square. The three boarded passengers of a family including a couple along with their six year old child were rushed to the Capital Hospital and later shifted to a private hospital in the city for further treatment. The condition of the injured persons was critical.

Following the incident, members of Saheed Nagar Autodrivers’ Association demanded compensation for the families of the deceased driver and injured passengers and also held the dumper responsible for the mishap.   

Another road mishap took place when a private bus runs over the head of a motorcycle rider after collided with the bike at Palasuni in the city on Wednesday afternoon. The motorcycle rider was identified as Chittaranjan Das of Ali in Kendrapada district.
