3D street painting in city for the first time

BHUBANESWAR: For the first time in the capital city and second time in the State after Puri, 3D chalk street painting along with a workshop was held at Satyanagar here on Monday. The workshop was organised by Bokul Children’s Library and US Consulate General at Hyderabad, where the street painting of world renowned 3D Chalk Painting artiste Tracy Lee Stum from the USA was the main attraction of the passersby.

Tracy is an internationally recognised American street painter who specialises in spectacular, interactive 3D chalk street paintings and holds a Guinness World Record for the largest street painting by an individual. Recently, she had worked with noted sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik of the State in a Jugalbaandi of 3D chalk painting and sand sculpture at Puri beach for two days on the theme of environment protection.

On the surface of street road in front of Bokul Children’s Library at Satyanagar, Tracy started her chalk painting based on the concept of road disruption due to lava eruption. “From a particular point, if you see the painting you can easily mark the illusion of road disruption due to lava eruption and a small iron bridge connecting to sides of the disconnected road. It was really amazing to see the art and also to work with Tracy,” said an engineering student Niki Garg who was helping Tracy in painting.

Students of various educational institutions got interacted with Tracy in the morning at Bokul. At the afternoon, students of CV Raman Engineering College, BK College of Art, Broken Scooter.com and other school students were present there to experience live art performance.

“It was really wonderful experience to work with sand artist Sudarsan at Puri,” said Tracy adding, “the road surface of the city is really good and soothing for painting,” she added.
